charging problems i think?
on my 89 i can put the batteries on a slow charge over night and it will have plenty of cranking power in the morning and will last for 4 or 5 days then if i crank and crank and run batteries down and i jump start it let it run for a while then shut it of the batteries are still dead.
brand new batteries alt is carrying 13 volts. and tested good by slow Riellys

Diodes are like one way valves (check valves) for electricity. Alternators create AC voltage, I believe 3-phase, but not absolutely certain. The diodes only let voltage through in one direction which makes DC voltage. Not sure if its standard for all vehicles, but our trucks have 6 diodes, 3 wired for positive voltage, and 3 for negative. The reason for 6 of them, and 3-phase AC is to try and produce a smoother DC voltage wave.
When they tested your alternator, did they check the current or just the voltage?
