Cool Header Question

I am doing a single barrel to double barrel carb swap. I have the header off and have a few questions about the process.

1.) What do the butterfly valve and the header hook to?

2.) The brass/copper small lines that hook up to the header, are they necessary to hook back up?........because mine broke.

Thanks,
Nates78

I'm assuming you're talking about the carb heater, not the exhaust header?

I'm not sure what you mean by header. This is an exhaust header:

But from what you're describing, it sounds like you're talking about the heat riser that's in the chamber where the intake and exhaust bolt together. The heat riser uses a bi-metal spring to open and close the butterfly valve to warm up the carb and help with fuel atomization.

The only other brass line I can think of is one that runs from the choke on the carburetor down to a small indentation in the exhaust manifold. It uses warm air to warm up the choke.

If neither of these are it, maybe take some pics and post them up.
