What dynomax headers do you have? I'm looking at their lower budget set for $215. They're Jet-Hot coated and i've heard good stuff about that coating but what can you tell me about these headers? I'll use them for a 67 f100/ 352.
Good/ Bad?
fit/finish?
I can pass on this little piece of advice for anyone planning to use the Dynomax headers on a 65-66 with a 390. They didn't fit my truck period, even though they said they did. I had problems with them hitting my Motor mount stands, and they came out right ahead of the transmission crossmember, which would have resulted in a sharp bend or pinch in the exhaust at the collector.
Also, if you're running an automatic, watch out for the column shift linkage, mine was sitting right below the linkage and I couldn't even get the transmission out of park. Boxed mine up & sent them back.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-May-02 AT 04:06 PM (EST)]Hola,
Many headaches with the Dynomax ceramic coated headers for my 69 F250 2wd with a 390. The driver side exhausted into the tranny linkage as mentioned above and the driver side piping had to be mangled to accomodate the power steering unit. While trying to bend the header exhaust away from the linkage (I also reversed the linkage bracket at the C6), we bent the collector flange so I ended up welding straight to the headers. This is a bit ugly with the ceramic coating. I still have significant leaks at the header gaskets. Overall, not a good fit. I believe the finish is acceptable. I would go with some of the other reccomended headers. I believe this is one of those times when saving some $$ just becomes a PITA!
