^^^ Being an early riser and avid fisherman, I see the sunrise from the lake on a routine basis. It's something you just never get tired of! (Those colors are more indicative of a sunset and I love them, too!)
Sean -- I've seen that many, many, times in my life. One was actually a godsend.
I was fishing Lake Okeechobee in a friend's boat and got about 100' off the line I should have been on. There was a new sandbar there and I stuck the boat squarely on top of it in 4" of water - -not nearly enough depth to float the boat and I wasn't strong enough to break the suction between the hull and sand and push the boat.
I made a couple of calls and had a friend show up to help. He didn't have a 100 yd rope so pulling me out wasn't an option. A call to a guide with an airboat got me a solution, but the price was going to be about $400, more cash than I had on me.
A storm was building on the other side of the lake and it looked like no fun. The view from where I sat was very much like the view in your picture. Then the cool breeze of the thunderstorm downdraft hit. As it got stronger I started thinking that this just wasn't my day. Except that it was. That storm blew about 6" of water my way, the boat floated off the sandbar, and I got the heck out of there!
Sitting there in Fish Eatin' Bay, that storm blew in a high tide!
