My truck has been down since august cause of tranny issues,it slips like no other and you can feel it catching sorta.the fluid is burnt but nothing is in the the pan as far as stuff that aint suppose to be there.i just can't find a trans close.amd I'm thinking now about dropping a tc in.what you guys think I just dont wanna pull it twice
if she's slipping Josh, then your clutch packs are likely the problem, not the converter.
the converter may very well have failed, causing excessive heat, which lead to the failure of the clutches sure.but a new converter now, wont fix that problem.
time for a rebuild/replacement im afraid.
i don't recall exactly, but i think you claimed this E40D has some serious miles on her and has likely served a few owners well now.
Hi, just R&R the E40D in my son's 95psd because of a broken adapter plate not a real
difficult job,but there is a bump out on bottom of tran's. that makes it hard as it wants to lay on its side, pulled with transfer case on tranny. What i meant about the bump out is
that with a tranny with flat bottom you can use adjustment screws to line up bolt holes.
Every trans guy SAYS you need special tools.....that's not generally true. Pertaining to the sump on the E4OD trans pan.....just shove some 2x4's or 1x4's to cradle it in the trans jack...
I'm with F250... I looked at doing the one in my half ton myself.... once i saw what all involved i knew there was no way i could do it and it still work.... Paid $1700 to get it done...
