I have not driven the truck much lately. I just took it out and and the speedometer is not working. The odometer is working and everything else seems fine. I looked in the OM for the correct fuse but it did not list one that said speedometer.....does anyone know what fuse it might be.
some history
I did remove the cluster for bulb replacement about 3 weeks ago. I thought it was working after I put it back but I am not positive. I alos went to the carwash about the same tiem and sprayed underneith to get the salt off. I have repalced the Vss/abs twice in 3 years, however when the vss failed in the past both times the speedo was erratic, the abs light would come on and off and I got a clicking noise from the dash.......I don't have any of those issues now..........thanks
thanks Rockledge I just went out and swapped out #25, no change. I am recalling when I took the cluster out I unnecessarily pulled the plastic cover off. I think I had the cluster upside down with the speedometer hitting the table... I am wondering if I damaged it.......any thoughts? if that is the case how would I fix it?
*I know the vss can give out all kinds of symptoms, but I thought if that was bad I would have more than just the speedo issue, as I said the odometer is working along with everything else!

PSOM could be bad, I have the same exact problem with my T-bird but opposite...........Speedo works, but no odometer.
Searching J-yards for one with similar mileage is no fun.
I don't think it's the VSS. Maybe if you pull the cluster again you'll find something amiss...
If the speedo is indeed damaged, you can probably find another cluster in a scrapyard.
Rockledge.thx again for your help............I pulled the cluster to take a look.........When i pulled it last time and i took the clear cover off(not sure why i did that lol), the speedometer needle had got caught below the pin that sticks out at at around the O mph. I must have caught the needle on something that slid it over the pin...i just popped it back over to the correct side..........
took about 45 minutes .not a total lose.....I had replaced the bulbs and for some reason my door ajar ended up with a bad bulb.so I replaced it while I was fixing the speedo..I took it for a test drive ...all better........
