yuppers. One of the nice thing about keeping plugged in is you normaly don't have to scrape the widshield.

You can leave it plugged in 24/7 if you like, but your power bill may take a bit of a hit. A lot of us have it plugged into a timer that comes on 3hrs before start, plenty of time to get things flowing.

It's not all that difficult to calculate. The block heaters on our trucks are rated to use 1000W of juice. The electric company sells electricity by the KWH which is 1000 watts for one hour of time. So, look at you last electric bill and whatever they charge you total per KWH time the number of hours you have your truck plugged in is how much it costs you.

Example at .09/KWH, it would cost you $66.96 per month to leave the truck plugged in 24/7. (.09 per KWH, x 24hrs a day, x 31 days=$66.96)

And for those of us that run timers (say 3hrs):

(.09 x 3hrs x 31) = $8.37 note 1, don't know about you guys, but that's about 3 cases of beer/month savings 'round here!

Note 1: yes, the timer itself draws some wattage but this is small in comparison to the block heater
