On my last truck, I removed the lock cylinder and put on a rear door handle instead. Never had a problem after that. It messes with the punks formula: look for a key hole, jam in homemade key, open door, steal whatever. Dead battery in the truck or key fob never left me unable to get in the truck, because you can tell when the battery becomes weak. I live in Texas, a man's home is his castle and that includes his truck. I was really hoping Ford redesigned the door handles on the 2011s, but sadly they didn't. I like the micro chip'ed key and factory alarm. I do not like the Brake over Accelerator feature and being governed out at 95mph. Sorry about the rant. I would like a blinking LED that I can manually turn off/on.

Without battery power the remote (or keypad) does not work and I'm not sure how you get into the truck to release the hood latch so that you could replace them - if you deleted the key cylinder.
Good point, what if we added the aftermarket chrome covers, & used the back door one . If desperate, use a dremmel tool & cut the plastic cover over the existing key hole. Anyone think that could work? I was going to add those covers anyhow as I have the chrome pkg ordered & was considering covering up the keyhole before the dead battery issue was brought up. I will have the keypad & passenger lock delete option on mine.

Just ordered the Bully lock for the tailgate.

Ill leave it unlocked, so they wont PUNCH it. Im not sure what to do about the doors yet, not sure I wanna try the jimmy Jammers as they can still damage the door pretty good. Also they can bust the winder. I just dont keep anything valuable in the truck and I have the basic Stereo/CD so I hope they dont want that.

I'm with you on the jimmi jammers. More damage will be done with them prying the door. I think I will get the alarm and just replace the handle they damaged with a new one with the key. With the LED light from the alarm, I am hoping they will just pass by and leave my truck alone. I do not keep anything of value anymore, not even spare change as that is what they took in the beginning and with the alarm that will go off when they try and bust the lock or open the door, they will not have time to take out my Nav system before I get out there and chase to little off my driveway

Pick your poison. I have the jimmi jammers and it worked. They messed the door up trying to get in. Since that kept them out, they then smashed the window. So I had to fix the door and buy a new window (junk yard 75.00).

All this talk about locks being punched got to me. I was hoping that the thieves would notice that it was a 2011 and just move to the next target.

I un-bent a small lock washer and Rv Blue'ed in the key hole. I cut a dime size plank out of a stake pocket cover and painted it aluminum (almost matches ingot silver). Rv blue'ed the silver plank over the lock washer. Looks pretty good. Hard to notice unless you really look at it. I also double rapped a bigass ziptie around the tailgate pivot.

I think we deal with different thieves in different parts of the country. Ours down here are lazy and don't want to work too hard.

Dave, use a hose clamp on the tailgate pivot until you buy the lock- its takes more time to remove it.

That's right, I have had some tough to remove zipties before, but a hose clamp w/ the head rounded off would be tougher.

You can buy just the shock sensor and even better a sensor that detects movement in the cab of the truck. I have an old Toyota truck in that i added the intrusion sensor to it. I just tied it in to the door switch since that is what the alarm used for the sensor. (I had lots of audio in that truck.) When it got broken into the held the door switch and rolled down the window, then reached in and that is what set off the alarm. they still made off with the faceplate and remote from my radio, but that was it.

the sensor was really easy to mount. I put it behind the dash and it only had 3 wires, power ground and output. I think i got it from radio shack... this was back in the early 90's

this is what I was talking about.. one like this. I don't know about the company it was the first that popped up on the google search.

jesus electronics

I had to adjust the sensitivity on mine to just do the inside of the truck, if not people walking by the windows would set it off.

Shock sensors are just as easy to add to the vehicle. I added 2 to mine. One to the front and one to the back of the truck. i also added a hood pin switch so it would go off if they popped the hood, to shut off the alarm.

you have to pull the tailgate loose from the right hinge to get the band around the pivot..
