i hope that that never happens to me. but to make sure it doesnt i installed a trainhorn that i have tied into my aftermarket alarm. what i have are 4 grover 1510 horns (fire engine horns) one in front, back and then one on either side. and let me tell you it is loud as ***** lol its almost crippling. but the thing is that i only engage them with the horn when i know im going to need them. i.e. mall, stock show, large parking lots. i actually engaged them this past summer when i took the fam to six flags fiesta texas in san antonio. well about 2 in the afternoon i heard what i thought was my horns. lol sure enough my phone was going off. i have the viper VSS5000 and the app on my iphone. well i was clear on the other side of the park and heard them there. security guard said the guy who tried to break in to the car next to mine hit my car pretty hard with his knee and set mine off. he was unable to get up and run from having to hold his ears.
you my friend should look into a set for your truck.
Thanks for the morning laugh.
I picture this guy attempting to walk while holding on to his hurt knee and both ears at the same time, bumping in between the car and your truck trying to get away while dazed and confused.

I definitely would be interested in a little more information on this set up.
A co-worker has a chevy and his we broken into twice by the punched lock trick. My 05 f-150 they tried it but were unsuccessful. The co-worker installed a rear door handle in place of his driver front handle so now he has no access to his truck with just a key. He has to use his key fob in order to get in. I've been thinking of doing the same thing since I either use the key pad or my fob to gain entry anyways. Only time I will be screwed is if all batteries die at the same time. I think I will take my chances there rather than letting a scum sucking piece of chit get into my truck.
I came out from work one day to find the passenger side lock cylinder punched on my 2007, the dash pulled apart, and my aftermarket radio missing. I had a Viper alarm system on the truck that obviously they didn't care was blaring as they were pulling my radio out. The crazy thing about it is they knew how to pull the dash apart and didn't destroy it, they unplugged my Escort Radar Detector from my dash before they pulled it apart and left it in the truck, and left my subwoofer and amp in there which obviously they knew were there since they had to unplug all those connections from the back of the deck. Obviously they were there for one thing and one thing only. When I had the door handle replaced, I went ahead and put the rears without the lock cylinders all the way around.
On my 2011 I might do Jimmy Jammers, and I really like the lockable tailgate thing.
the handle is broken, the lock cylinder is still in the broken part.
if the key part still works, just move it to the new handle.
its easy to replace, three nuts old the handle to the body.

So basically order a new door handle remove the new lock, put the old lock in and replace? I would assume you have to remove the inside door panel to get at the 3 nuts holding the handle to body.

correct.. 3 bolts on the door panel. disconnect speakers if u have them.
disconnect lock rod and latch rod, unscrew 3 bolts, remove handle, move lock cylinder if its any good, (if not, get a new one and have it keyed in advance, or use the no key rear door handle instead)
install door handle, install 3 nuts, connect latch & lock rod, install door panel.
I did the JimmiJammers on 4 doors in about an hour. (take off the door panels, lossen handle, install JJ plate, tighten handle, install door panel.

Thanks for the info. I might just get a rear door handle and replace the front with it. Then they can not re-punch the key lock. I have not used a key to unlock a door in overt 10 years. I have always had a remote or keypad.
As others have mentioned, this invites the next level of attack, prying the handle away from the door shell, (bending the door shell in the process) to get room to hook the lock rod.
I installed the JimmiJammers to guard against this success.. and disconnected the lock rod, so they have nothing to hook.
if they are gonna mess up the door, they still aren't getting in..
break the glass is the next level of attack..
from less to more obvious that this activity is not normal.

I will be getting another alarm installed with a shock sensor so if someone does punch the lock at least the sensor will pick it up (hopefully). Also with the LED light flashing inside the truck, a would be thief would at least know that the truck is alarmed and move on. In my case this break in, there is no LED light flashing and the horn blasting probably shock the heck out of the thief when he opened the door.
I use the keypad all of the time. I cannot even remember using the key.
Can you replace the handle with one like the rear doors?
I'm lazy tonight and just briefly read the replies, but am not sure what you would do in the event of dead battery/batteries.
Without battery power the remote (or keypad) does not work and I'm not sure how you get into the truck to release the hood latch so that you could replace them - if you deleted the key cylinder.
