I still think a primer with a couple of blocks of C4 (ok just a little C4) right behind the lock (maybe a plate behind all of that to direct the force).

Couple of examples like that and theives will start going elsewhere.

C4 would damage your truck. A couple blocks, well your truck might end up missing with a black spot where you parked it!
I would opt for something more directional away from my truck, say an M18A1.
Ok, that's harsh but people shouldn't take stuff that doesn't belong to them!
They can't be honest themselves and to lazy to work so they have to go damage and steal from other hard working Americans who have saved up a lot of money to have trucks like these.
I could continue but I'll stop instead.

Perhaps placing a Rattlesnake in the center console would have the desired effect. Sorry to hear of your loss & damage.

2:30 am. the truck alarm goes off (Factory alarm) 10 seconds later I hear a car drive away. I look out and sure enough my lights are flashing. I get dressed, head downstairs and take a look at the truck. Can't see much as it is dark out. No windows broken, unlock the door wit the key fab and my center console is open and the small tray is gone. I had maybe 4 bucks in change in there.

Get up this morning and go out to take another look. I look at the door lock and sure enough the little punched the lock out.

When is Ford going to put in descent locks? This high a price tag on a truck and they install a plastic key lock.

Now not sure how much the key lock is going to cost me or the tray, but I figure at least $100.00 bucks plus the 4 bucks I lost from the center console

One other thing, I plan to look into a second alarm to install that has an actual shock sensor AND one that has a display LED light to warn a thief that the truck is alarmed. NOT sure why Ford installs a factory alarm WITHOUT an LED deterrent light.

My rant for the day

I know how you feel. I had this happen to me, the main thing is to not leave anything insite. I've installed an alarm system with factory system intact, the system I installed has a pager system built in. Also have jimmijammers for all doors, tailgate lock, a tailgate bracket so the tailgate can not be taken off. The worse part is, if these lock were not plastic and was metal plate like the jimmijammers are, just imagine if the lock was punched and it held together, what kind of dent would these doors endure. If they don't punch them out, some use a screwdriver to pry under the lock assembly to push up the lock rod, leaving a hole in your door.

Did someone say C4?

How can they get the tailgate off if it was locked? Is the lock that easy to defeat?

I agree with the OP.. seems someone could FIX this in engineering.. instead of each customer finding out for themselves..

Buy JimmiJammer to get the IP and spend $1 on each truck with protection plates.

Sam
The problem is every petty thief knows that these trucks locks are easy to punch in and can get into these trucks in seconds. With the JimmiJammer the thief will ultimately damage your door trying to punch in your lock before they realize they can't punch in the door lock and give up.

The best approach is use an alarm system with the blinking light to hopfully deture them and or minimize their time in your truck after breakin.

Depending what you store in your truck, it maybe just cheaper to replace the door lock and the misc items that has been stolen inside your truck rather than the whole door.

On my '05, I had excellent results putting a rear door handle on the front door (no key hole). The problem now- I have to paint new door handle to match. The dealer said that it would cost $100 plus the handle ($70ish). I'm thinking about painting a dime sized plastic piece and filling the key hole. Anything to make these punks move on down the road before they get hurt. Take a look around parking lots at the key holes, I bet 80% are jacked up or covered. Thieves aren't going to hit the same truck twice.

jimmiJammer also sells a keyhole plug product like you are describing

I just disconnected the lock rod, so punching they key lock does nothing

Sam- Is the inner door panel removal procedure on the 2011 similar to 2005?

I use the keypad all of the time. I cannot even remember using the key.

Can you replace the handle with one like the rear doors?

On one of my previous vehicles I installed a 150 db speaker into the truck so that a human ear physically can not stand the sound and they HAVE to get out of the truck. It was activated by the factory alarm.
To add to this...if I ever caught this happening...I would most likely be going to jail because I doubt I could refrain myself from pulling the trigger.

i hope that that never happens to me. but to make sure it doesnt i installed a trainhorn that i have tied into my aftermarket alarm. what i have are 4 grover 1510 horns (fire engine horns) one in front, back and then one on either side. and let me tell you it is loud as ***** lol its almost crippling. but the thing is that i only engage them with the horn when i know im going to need them. i.e. mall, stock show, large parking lots. i actually engaged them this past summer when i took the fam to six flags fiesta texas in san antonio. well about 2 in the afternoon i heard what i thought was my horns. lol sure enough my phone was going off. i have the viper VSS5000 and the app on my iphone. well i was clear on the other side of the park and heard them there. security guard said the guy who tried to break in to the car next to mine hit my car pretty hard with his knee and set mine off. he was unable to get up and run from having to hold his ears.

you my friend should look into a set for your truck.
