We'll you guys must know what your talking about, It turned out to be exactly what most suggested it would be. The UVCH, the connecter had come loose quite a bit, in fact both had but mostly on the corner to #1 which is where the miss was.
We replaced them with new ones from NAPA for $26.49 These have an extra tab under the clip that helps hold it up, so much in fact that they were hard to push in place. but once in snapped very tight. However we still did what Ken called the $.50 fix (which really should be $.25) but with a plactic washer. We also for good measure added some silcone to help seal the plastic box contaning the wires, might help in the long run, couldn't hurt, and some dialectric grease in the plug.
This combined with Ken's AWSOME help with the CPS has given us a truck running better then it has in years.
Thanks everyone
I am glad it wasn't the injector! I think I may have to buy a couple of those Napa harnesses to have as spares.
I did text your brother and told him to call me so we can run the CCT on it again to make sure every thin is copacetic . We should also calibrate the speedo for the larger tires if it is off at all. I am free the rest of the week and Saturday.
It was awesome meeting up with them and was great to talk trucks!
His brother brought the truck over again tonight. It was running much smoother and the idle was not elevated like before.
Ran the CCT with no faults! Buzz Test was good! Ended up running perdels on it and all eight cylinders were less than 1%.
We did end up taking it for a drive just for giggles. Ran ICP and Duty Cycle for the IPR. Most we saw for DC was 38% and highest ICP was right at 3850 psi. This is a stock tuned truck.
I would like to thank all of you that helped get my truck back on the road and a special thanks to Ken for all of his help figuring this out. Now that I have joined fte hopefully I will be able to repay everybody that helped thanks agian

Thanks. I should probably pull the VCs on my 2001 and check out those UVCH connections. Complete the $0.50 mod, and re-torque the injectors, etc. I'm at 84,000 miles. No problems yet, but the harness connection and wiring harness itself is such a commonly reported cause of problems that I might as well complete an inspection as well as the preventative $0.50 mod now.
Opossum - Glad to see you got it fixed! That connection looked like it was about to come completely separated. Other photos I have seen were not that bad. Did you happen to check the torque on the pedestool and injector hold down bolts? If so, were they loose? Just curious as I am planning on doing the $.50, inspecting under the valve covers and checking torque on bolts before summer. My truck has about the same mileage as yours. Would like to get it done now but still a bit too cold to do outside in the driveway.

The truck is my brothers, littlegreenblur31 and I don't think he checked the hold down bolts, he had the VC off by the time I got there, and that was not something that was suggested to us as a possible issue.
What else is on the market? I want a hand held unit that doesn't require a laptop or phone or anything. Pretty much want something to throw in the glove box that will work equally well 20 years from now. BTW I will not ever give another dime to AE.
Oh yeah, I checked Strictly Diesel and it appears they only carry AE.
When Tim gets down there for the next ManTown meeting (soon?), he will no doubt bring his brand new NGS scan tool that he might let you try out.
As you know, the NGS is a hand held, self contained, no computer, no dongles, no os compatibility issues, no feature or function limitations, no "we're working on it for a future release" promises, no $150 updates, no question the scan tool works as Ford intended... compact dealership level solution. It would be a great full service companion to your injector break out box, but it is still not small enough to fit in your glove box.
Yet it will easily fit in with all your other roadside service items that you carry in your truck...
