neither one of my two code readers will read codes on this truck. Have tested readers and they work properly on other vehicles.
Driving. One sudden hard hiccup as I pulled into traffic.Seemed to be O.K. Five minutes later it just died. Once again no power to fuel pump. ck'd relays and fuses. Pulled cables. checked batteries. Everything seems to turning on except pump. Ck. engine light staying on. Inertia switch not tripped. no power to it though. power to fuel pump fuse o.k. Glow plug light on dash and everything seems to function normally. Wiring tests good for continuity with Batteries disconnected. Is there a sensor that sends info to the PCM or a keyless entry anti theft mode that will shut down fuel pump?? . Got some more testing to do. Any tips appreciated. I cannot figure out why my OBD2 reader wont read the codes. When tester attempts to link up, ERRPR code displays, reader says it's not being powered through the DLC connector.
I have tested all the wires while batts. disconnected. all test good. Most frustrating part is no code reading.
02 Power Stroke, truck Just Died As I Was Driving, Was Running Low On Diesel, So Thought I Ran Out, But The Tower Was Still Full Of Fuel.
Will Not Start, But Cranks. Tested, But No Power To Inertia Switch, Or Fuel Pump. Thought I Would Ask If You Had Any Luck With Yours?

(should be 10 or 11 times). The factory default codes should now be re-established and it should start. ( Barring any mechanical defects) Some techs will tell you to turn the key on for 20 seconds and then back off ten times in a row to re-set, but I have found it actually takes about 43 seconds each time. I had estimates of 2,000 to 3,500 for repairs and was appalled to find that the local techs didn't know as much about the trucks OBD etc. as I did. That may be why they need so much money to fix one. I have had these trucks since '84 and have never had an inexpensive or correct repair so I have just studied and learned to do it myself with the help of other 7.3 owners who have "been there, done that!" Good luck!

As for the code reader, what brands are you trying? Most of the inexpensive code readers won't pull codes off the 7.3, so the free scans from the parts stores don't work either.
I believe I have read other 7.3's with this reader,( INNOVA 3100) but I'm going to see if I can find one to try it on. My other reader is a Superchips programmer/reader which is supposed to read all even though it only tunes one. I am making this my first priority before I do anything else.
Have you checked the rest of your fuses? The one that powers the cigarette lighter also powers the OBDII connector. I'd also check fuses for the security module, ignition circuit, and probably all of them just to be on the safe side. A test light with the key on makes this an easy task.
Don't know if you have an aftermarket security system or not, but the Viper system that I had on my Vette developed a short and would shut down the fuel system. Although, on mine there was no "hiccup", it would just quit.
Don't have an aftermarket security system, but Ford sent an "expert" from Kansas and it turned out to be a set of wires rubbing on the top of the shock on the drivers side and causing a short. After $3,500 at the dealer for an unnecessary wiring harness, 2 pcms, and other unnecessary items, they fixed it with electrical tape and a zip tie!
I'm getting ready to buy a scanner to use on my 01 f350 with the 7.3 .Ive seen some snap on 2500 on eBay that aren't to salty ,any suggestions would be great.
Thanks
