I just bought an edelbrock model 1406. I need an adapter plate to make this fit on my stock 460 manifold. Advance auto has nothing and the only thing I found online was from summit racing but it had individual ports. The base gasket for this carb is open though, would this adapter work or do I need one with and open center. Thanks
Ok the intake is stock with individual ports. So I'm looking at the summit racing trd-2199 adapter, but the gasket that came with the new carb is open will that gasket seal to the adapter plate correctly or do I need a different gasket.
I am certainly no pro and don't know everything, but I just recently bought the same exact carb for my truck and was advised heavily from people here NOT to use an adapter plate and to get the performer manifold. For me, I got the performer 400 intake manifold because I have a 400. I don't know which one is needed for a 460. Hopefully someone with a little more knowledge than me will chime in. I was told that going to the edelbrock manifold would have better results. I also think that the "individual ports" you are reffering to is a quadrajet, and you need a "square bore" for the Edelbrock. Someone here with more knowledge will hopefully correct me if I am misleading you. Good luck...
I put a 1407 carb on my 460 but went ahead and installed the edelbrock performer intake while I was at it. If your stock intake is the same as mine was it would be a spread bore and is not the same as a quadrajet so be careful what adaptor you get. If you use the adaptor I would get a gasket that has the 4 seperate holes for between the carb and adaptor.
I looked online and the only difference I see is the gasket. The one that came with the carb is open in the middle but the adapter and gasket have individual ports they are not open in the middle.
