The ZF 5-speed came on the 300,302,351w,and 460's from 87-94. These I believe are one piece castings, so as long as you have one from a 302 or 351w, it should bolt up to a 351w back to when the windsor came out.
300 six bell housing is also the same as the 302 and 351W, as long as you get one from a truck with one of those engines it will be fine. You will have to get the right flywheel though, the 302s will be a 50oz imbalance and the 300s will be zero, you will need one off a 351W.

would the flywheel off a 4speed work? the motor is in my dentside with the granny low 4 speed. its geared really low and i was wanting to put the zf5 so that i would have an overdrive.

Cool question. :)
The wrinkle I see is the hydraulic clutch setup on the ZF vs the old one. (?)
Also, Ford had trouble with the master cylinder bending the firewall, even
to the point of having three different "fixes" for it. Three different part
numbers for how severe the damage was. The "least" happens to be the
same part that came from the factory on my late '90 model F250 parts
truck. I'd check the "fit" for you but my Dent parts truck ain't here handy.
Question I have is...
What's better about a dangged hydraulic clutch anyway? :/
Anything at all? ;)
35 years with the mechanical one on my '75 Dent proves it works good,
if it is taken care of at all and I never changed the "fluid;)" on it once.
well then is there a 5 speed with a mechanical clutch that would work. my truck has 4.10 gears in it and i just want that extra gear for highway driving. its a divorsed transfer case so that aint a problem
