For some reason this whole concept does not sit right with me. The geometry is such that is it going to put alot of stress on the components in order to stiffen your suspension. It works for a while but eventually things break. Has anyone compared a simple add a leaf and an upgraded sway bar to these things.
Well, I have reached my camping destination and my wrists and forearms are literally sore from gripping the steering wheel all the way here. I set the RAS at 1mm. Tried to put the Hellwig on the rear but I'm running a veggie oil system and my fuel filter housing is in the way of the sway bar. Not really sure where to go from here, but I was told that my drag link up front is bad and needs replaced. The steering box has been tightened up but there's still a bunch of play. The sway is so scary I don't look forward to the trip home. I'm kind of wondering if my hitch/sway control is not adjusted right.
Hate to jump in here with a simple question, but what is the RAS and what is it for?
RAS stands for Roadmaster Active Suspension. It's kind of like a helper spring and the idea is to reduce or eliminate the nasty spring wrap condition inherent in the excursion. Well, not just the excursion because they make it for a lot of different vehicles, but I think the spring wrap is why most ex owners install it.
Ok thanks for the answer. We have an 01 7.3 that has the wandering issue whether pulling our 7000# camper or by itself. It has 133000+ miles on it but I think I will try adjusting the box and I think it needs new sway bar bushings.
