I have read lots of old post how a few have rewired there headlights to run though relays to take the stress off the switch does anyone have a diagram/parts list of this mod?
I figured it would be a great idea to do since we are going to be stripping the truck down here shortly to redo the drivetrain.
And also is the headlights wired the same for the 67-72 model years as the 73-79 years? I want to take the stress off the light switch on all my trucks. The 78/72/72/and 63.
I am not sure what year Ford finally fixed this but it was in the late 90's I think. I can say for sure ANY pre 1994 truck would benefit from this upgrade.
I just made that especially for you!! That's how to hook it up, plain and simple!! Pretty much any vehicle can be done much the same way. Hope it helps! And anyone can use this pic as needed.
I was druelling over a slick 67 bumpside, and noticed he had a small 5"x4" digital box by each headlight, with halogen lights. I was just curious if anyone knew what it was.

Were they halogens or were they running HID with ballasts?
You can get HID kits (bulbs and ballast) for $50 anymore, but then it takes some fab work to install some projectors.
I am running lmc head lamps,AND I LIKE UM !
Had to cut about 1/4" out of the back of my h.l. buckets, for the rubber boot on the rear of h.l. housing, now can replace bulb only. even with the stock bulb what a differance.
I did the relay/wiring before, and it did help, but I say - UP GRADE!!!!!

Nice truck! I'm curious about the wiper mod you did. Mine seem to be 'lazy'. One flap they go down to the weatherstripping on the windsheild, and the next they stop 6" above! I know that fixing that is not part of installing an intermintent system, but if you have any tips I'd appreciate it.
Does anyone have any photos of where they mounted the relays for the headlight mod?
To be honest, the LMC wiring harness is super easy and very reasonable and is a very nice kit to get the job done.
Buying everything seperate is going to be way more than the $29.99 at LMC.

Very easy to hook up. The only complaint I have is the relays used in LMCs harness are el cheapos. Every once in awhile my headlights don't come on the first time. I'm eventually going to upgrade them.
