Very easy to hook up. The only complaint I have is the relays used in LMCs harness are el cheapos. Every once in awhile my headlights don't come on the first time. I'm eventually going to upgrade them.
I really hated the yellow jacketing that covered the wiring, my relays are holding up so far. If it comes down to it I would probably wire in some Bosch style relays rather than the Japanese style that is provided.
You also have to include the shipping costs with LMC stuff, unless you live in Kansas. To each their own though. Here in the Nashville, Tennessee area relays are about $3-5, enough 10ga wire for the job about $5, use female spade connectors instead of relay sockets and fuse holders which are about $2 for a pack of 20ish, and I was able to reuse my headlight sockets (on my chevy), just removed the guts and connected the heavier wire to them and put them back in. If you can remember your own work and don't have much extra money, you could technically use the female spades in place of the headlight sockets on our trucks but I'd only do that temporarily. And fuses are really cheap and most of us have them laying around anyway.
Using a diagram similar to the one posted above, I did the relay upgrade last year and switched to halogen bulbs. The first night I drove it I was following another truck, some one I didn't know, and we both ended up at the same Pizza Hut to get our orders. We got out of the truck and he asked me what the hell I did to my headlights because they are blinding him He thought I had my high beams on and I showed him it was my low beams but with the relay and halogens.
Needless to say, I am very happy with the upgrade!
Just finished mine, haven't drove it at night yet. It was way more fun pieceing together the system myself. And the fuse block I got off ebay has 4 fuses. Now I have extra for fog lights and whatever.
I am running lmc head lamps,AND I LIKE UM !
Had to cut about 1/4" out of the back of my h.l. buckets, for the rubber boot on the rear of h.l. housing, now can replace bulb only. even with the stock bulb what a differance.
I did the relay/wiring before, and it did help, but I say - UP GRADE!!!!!
Are you referencing the Euro Style headlamps LMC offers or just the newer style lamp with a replaceable bulb?
i looked into doing this upgrade and also seen the LMC's upgraded wiring harness's basically the same setup as the diagram made up on the first page of this thread? or are they different if so what's the difference between the 2 and which is better?
