i'm with the guys before i get you into a situation where you somethin or have to send it to a shop for repairs on your "repairs", how much mechanic knowledge do you have??????? i read you replaced a head gasket so if my thought is right you could handle a simple swap as long as you can folloe directions and i mean to the letter...

Just an FYI: you are now working on a far more complicated animal.

Brian i am sure that you did not bother anyone with the questions that you have asked since we all feel that the only dumb question is the one not asked. However, on that note, the one thing you have to keep in mind here is that even though most of us are rednecks/hicks/ or just plain nuts about these trucks we all appreciate the ability to put a sentence into some sort of legible structure and we all appreciate some sort of decent spelling.
No i am not coming down on you just giving a bit of an observation ( a dictionary can be your very best friend ) as most of us here already complain about the education system and schools and teachers passing students along without the proper ability to cover the three R's: Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. Many of us are old school where we would get absolutely flamed in school and in life by our peers and our elders if we could not spell, do math and read.

As for the ease of doing an engine removal and reinstallation or even a full transplant of another type of engine, anyone who can read a book and follow directions in a very orderly manner can do this job especially if you have people like we have here at FTE to help in answering your questions and help in guiding you along with the proper instruction in an orderly fashion. So long as you have the patience to follow a plan and advice given, you can do anything on these trucks and will eventually get to the point of being able to offer up your own advice and instruction based on learned knowledge of doing it yourself.

That engine will work in your truck and you can probably use your electronic ignition in it as well . All you will need to do is swap your ignition components over to it.
