I have a 2002 F250 with 8" lift and cutout flares. I am running 38x14.5x16 nitto Mud grapplers. I am switching them out for some 38x15.5x18 KUMHO ROAD VENTURE M/T's but I am in need of rims. Does anyone know of an 18 inch rim that will fit this truck with the correct backspacing. All styles are welcome. Thanks
any of the metric 8 lug wheels will fit. go to the kumho(<--teehee funny word ) website and see what size rim they recommend and go from there. chances are it will suggest a 12'' wide wheel. and as to backspacing go to the site of your lift manufacturer, they sometimes have a general guideline as to what works the best with a given amount of lift and a specific tire size.
just make sure when you go to order rims that you tell them it has lockouts that need an opening. once you start getting into the bigger rims they have center caps to make them look better and a lot don't have an opening for lockouts to come through. i saw a show on tv the other day where they put a center cap over the lockout on a s/d because they "didn't use 4x4 enough to really worry about needing it" so they just carried the allen key in the truck so they could take the caps off when they needed 4x4. i cringed at that thought and couldn't believe they would actually air something so ridiculously dumb
well, it kind of looks like this is the only other option i can see. I'm sure there are more, but you're going to have to spend some time on wheel manufacturer's websites looking hard because these don't seem to be a very common combo(18x12 metric 8 lug) and they damn sure aren't going to be cheap. I got the Kuhmo road venture a/ts on my stupid duty and they're a great tire. We put a set on one of the plow trucks I liked 'em so much. Let us know how the m/ts perform when you get 'em on there.
Will do Captain. Its looking like i am going to be buying some chrome rims and turning around and sending them straight to the powdercoater. I cant handle chrome. Truck sees too much dirt and hard winters.
