Im getting a set of 38.5x15x16.5 super swamper boggers ... I have a set of 33x12.5x16.5 on a set of rims ... The rims seem to be about 11-12" wide ... My question is what rim width should 15" wide tires be put on? would they fit good on the rims i have now ? .... THANKS
A general rule of thumb I used to always see was that the rim should be 1" - 3" narrower than the tire. By that rule your 15" tires should be on 12" - 14" rims.
However, the wider the rim and tire the less critical that is (1" is a smaller percentage of a 15" wide tire than it is a 9" wide tire). And for rockcrawling it's often desirable to go a little narrower on the rims to get more protection from the sidewall (not sure about what's recommended for mudding).
So I'd think 11" - 12" rims would be great in 15" tires (although pretty wide for the 12.5' tires currently on them).
thanks a lot ! ... I didn't want to buy the tires and then end up needin different rims ... If anyone knows what's suggested for muddying that'd be great !!! Or any suggestions at all I love learning
