Im thinking of joining and getting the Premier membership with one 200 mile tow, and three 100 mile tows.
With all of my traveling, and the truck getting real close to the 1/4 million mile mark, I thought it may be a good idea.
I haven't heard anything negative about them, but I was curious if there is any cons with their services reguarding our trucks?
It all looks good on paper, but I dont want to throw away my money.
Thanks
Be sure to do your research,I'm looking as well for some type of roadside assistance, but I'm still searching. Some plans/companies offer a good deal on paper, but their vendors/towing companies/coverage area my be questionable,I'm not saying anything negative about AAA,just saying this from what I've been reading.I've got alot of info from here...http://http://www.rv.net/
I was going to get AAA but after checking with my USAA insurance I found they have roadside assistance that includes a tow to the nearest repair facility for $1 per month per vehicle. Kind of a no brainer. Might not get me home but it will get me off the road until I can fix it or get help. They let me add my trailer too so that is no added tow bill. Check with AAA about trailers because a guy posted a while back his truck was covered but his camper tow was a couple hundred.
Thanks Phil, I would like to stick with a big company for just the reason of coverage alone.
$124 is a drop in the bucket considering you get 500 miles of towing. Heck I spent $100 for a couple mile tow not to long ago.

Good thinking. I can add my camper for an additional $80 a year.
Now im at $204 a year....maybe I will call Geico and see what they offer. They cover my truck and camper.
Like Keith said, someone on here, one the AZ guys I think had to be towed, the tow was covered but he ended up paying like 800 bucks for the camper to be towed,I've looked at a few companies on RV.net,but haven't decided yet...and most companies have a 10 to 30 day waiting period after sign up so keep that in mind as well...

I would say to get it but add the RV package to it and then your RV is covered for towing. Plus you can get a all the other benefits of AAA like discounts. Ins company roadside assistance is good but if they don't have a contracted tow company in the area you may have to pay out of pocket and then have to wait to get payed back from your ins company. A lot of roadside assistance companies will farm out the towing to another company and you could wait for hours on end to get towed when there is a tow company 5 miles from you but they are not on the list especially in the rural areas. At least with AAA you are dealing with them only and they are not going to farm it out to someone else.
i got AAA, and needed towed. Was 48ish miles from pad, and they towed me to my driveway. Granted, it wasnt with my PSD, and didnt have a trailer, but i did upgrade to have trailer included now. Seen ALOT of trailers "stranded" cuz they probably didnt have the trailer + package, and wasnt gonna pay the 8-10 per mile charge. Think its WELL worth it, to have.
I have a towing benefit in my regular insurance as well as AAA. I like the maps, discounts etc. that come with AAA. Like it has been said carefully check your policy to match your needs.

I was just reviewing geicos roadside assistance, and you brought up some good points.
I would rather just flash my card, sign my name, and have the truck and trailer towed home, rather than pay out of pocket to have it towed to the "nearest repair facility" and then wait for a reembursment check.
Ill do some more research, and see what can learn.
Thanks for the replys guys...
I've had AAA for many years and have been very satisfied. I like knowing my wife or kids can always call and get assistance if I don't happen to be near. I've called them for everything from running out of fuel (yeah, the gauge was just under 1/4) to changing a flat tire due to my physical limitations to several tows over the years. In all cases the service has been courteous, efficient and got the job done. I think we pay $129 per year and it covers all of our vehicles or any vehicle one of us happens to be riding in.
Frank, Check out Good Sam Rv emergency road service They will cover any vehicle you own, they will tow your truck and trailer, AAA will only tow the truck. Good Sams is $79.00per year
I've had AAA for the past 11 years. I also have the RV Plus coverage which I used when my motorcycle broke down a couple years ago. For me, it has certainly been worthwhile and almost every year my wife has made sure it pays for itself, i.e. left the domelight on and needed a jump start, locked her keys in the car and needed it opened, etc.

I'll check it out Bob, The premier AAA is $124, and an additional $80 to include my camper. which includes up to 100 mile tow for my travel trailer.
EDIT: $80 is for campers over 32ft, Mine is 31'8"..... It will only be $40 extra...
