Quite honestly it used to be the same policy right here on FTE back in the Ken/Motorhaven era. You couldn't link to a seller's site that wasn't a sponsor, and you'd get banned for excessively cheer leading a seller who wasn't a sponsor. Shoot I remember links to E-bay items getting removed.
That's their site and their right regulate what goes on there. It's my right to not visit it.

Right, I understand that... they started it so they can make the rules. I don't think that makes the rules right and I'm sure most of us here agree with that. To be honest, I think it all sounds just like the crap that's going on in D.C., just forum style.
HAHA!!! A "Clay-fest"! HOW COOL IS THAT!? Actually, I don't think Clay would like it at all... I'm not sure I would either if I was in his shoes.
Not here to compare sites, but I can offer a partial explanation.
PSN is sponsor only with no external advertising.
The RR x-over was mentioned several times with no site intervention, several times links to RR were provided even though this violate PSN site rules.
A member named Nation-1979 really abused the rules and fought with the site administrators and went out of his way to thumb his nose at site rules in regards to promoting non-sponsored vendors. He was warned but blew off the warning. At this point Nation-1979 was banned and the term Riff-Raff was censored.
Nation-1979 then opened up a new account under a new name MAJORPIA and flamed other members and sponsors. He was again banned and now is a member here.
I have several products on my truck from Clay and think his products are well made and suit my needs well at a good price.
Having said that I do not openly promote his products on PSN and understand and respect the rules on PSN.
If Clay and others consider the PSN request as extortion, I would say that I disagree.
The site admin and owner were very tolerant with the frequent mentioning and linking to Riff Raff but had to honor the other vendors that are paid sponsors on PSN.
I didn't post to start crap with anyone, both sites have there pros and cons when it comes to content etc. Just wanted to add perspective to the discussion.

Its not extortion but I can't control what people post and link yet I was penalized just the same.
I have nothing against PSN for enforcing their rules and guidelines, but I don't wish to become a sponsor just in order to allow people to post about us. We are very happy to have people post about our company but request they follow the site guidelines.
Just like everything else on the internet I am sure it will blow over and return to normal.
