firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 Counter clockwise

Well checked firing order, They were all in the right order but with engine at top dead center roter was pointing at cylinder 6.

Turn the crank one turn and it will point to #1

if it is the stock engine it is a 302. if i remember correctly, the 351W was not an option in 78

We already know it isn't the original, and that motor is much to wide to be a 302 but it's definitely a windsor family motor, so the process of elimination makes it a 351.
