I bought a 1978 f150 off of a guy yesterday, and have no idea what engine is in it. He told me he didn't know anything about the truck other than when he bought it he was told it was not the original engine. I am new to Fords all together and have always been a GM man. The price on this thing was to good to pass up, and maybe it will convert me. I have found that parts are a whole lot cheaper. Anyways here is the casting number off the block. Any help would be great.
Ok What engine is it??? It has a tag on the drivers side valve cover but most of it is unreadable. We can make out that it says auto transmission and the truck is a standard.
thats a windsor, the 351W and 351M have totally different size and bolt pattern on the valve covers, i would have guessed 351M came factory as my 78 did and most that i have seen but you got yourself a windor there.
welcome to the good side by the way, i sure do love those dent sides!
