Yeah I have a 2006 XLT 4x4. It it the base model work truck with little options. No turbo gauge in dash, and the Carfax says it was manufactured in mid 2006
I would have to see a pic of the cluster. soemthing is not right. even the trucks with rubber matts and am radio have a boost gauge. its under the tech and says turbo psi. 0-40 psi gauge.
If and when I need a new EGR cooler, I am going to get a BulletProof EGR cooler. Until there is a problem, I am happy to stay stock. Tex25025 has 160K or so on his stock cooler, 500+HP and tows 16K. If the stock cooler is good for him, can't see any reason to delete it. Sooner or later, the EPA is going to be everywhere.
Also, as Tex mentions in almost all of his posts on this subject, it is illegal to delete the cooler.
I think, and recomned that more important than the tuner is get some guages in that truck. Some of the more important ones are ECT, EGT, EOT, Trans Temp, Fuel Pressure, Voltage and the list goes on.
The guages are more important than the tuner for you right now, especially on a truck that was purchased without knowing the history until now. With the guages you may be able to moniotr some temps and stop a problem before it happens.
It all depends on what you buy. I think the best bang for the buck is the scan guage or the edge insight. The insight is NOT a tuner just used for guages. I have a mix of analog guages and a dsh daq.
Now if your flush for funds head on over to Spartan Diesel and buy the phanlax (sp) and you will get a tuner and guages in one. last I checked it was close to 1,000.00 though.
If not head to diesel manor, they usually have a 3 guage package for around 250-300 I think.
