Can i eliminate the rear shift sensor in my axle to run the trans as a shiftable automatic? i have trouble getting into the high end when racing and i think its because all the spinning. granted it is in 4lo so i wont get alot of speed but anything would help and it seems like it has more to give but is revving out. the axles are 3.55 and not sure if they're ls because truthfully haven't looked yet. thanks
BTW forget to mention 1992 F150 Flare side with 302
The rear axle VSS sensor is manditory for proper transmission operation so no it cannot be eliminated. The reason the motor doesn't have any top end power is because it's not designed for it.. peak HP happens at 3800rpm so reving it more is just making noise. If you want more top end HP swap in a Mustang HO cam.
when i was lookin at ur truck it was open diffs... try goin down 2 walter's and pickin up a 5.8L 2 swap in they charge bout $300 for a complete engine thats not expensive....
I'm hoping to do that soon because i definitely want more power out of it, but the budget is tight.(isn't it always?) there are just times it feels like it has another gear to give but i cant get it there, i thought maybe just eliminating that and shifting myself would work out better. the mud is to thick to run in 4hi. so far the motor mods are eliminated the ac, smog, and switched to dual electric fans. the truck is raced off road.
think your right about the cam, its on the list as soon as i get some more money from my sponsors. do think a set of 4v heads would help out too? i tried to research the 92 motor some but not alot of luck or im not looking hard enough
talked to some guys about the "lincoln locker" and they said it pushs to hard in the turns. the 3.55 seems pretty good so far i just want more speed on the straights. i think the 4.10 would get me off the line quicker for sure, but i would hit the same issue on the top end.
the olny engine that i know of where the heads veryied form 2v to 4v was the 351C no the 302 or 351Wbut from what i been reading GT40 heads r what u want
i just learning yet but i think the 4.10s would keep u up in ur peek RPMs so u'd be gettin ur peak power and have the gears to move u through that thick mud as well... when my brother swapped 4.10 into his ranger for muddin it made a huge difference in the mud
