I've stumbled across a third row yukon/tahoe seat that has the built-in shoulder belts. I'd like to put something like that in my 50 F1. Have any of you used that particular seat? And how hard is it to fab up a mount? I read the other threads, and it seems like a possibility.
I don’t think there is room for a second row of seats let alone a third row in an f1!
If you don’t get any other answers from smarter people (and there are a lot) I would say go for it, I think (scary concept) that I also have read a post on that mod. I used buckets with semi-separate shoulder belt and welded in a bracket to the cab but it would be much easier with the built in.
Your cab may be smaller than my 55 I have the ones from the second row 2006 Tahoe/Yukon, I have about 1.5 inches on each side of the seat. The center of the driver seat isn't exactly centered on my steering wheel however the inside look a lot bigger. It was really easy to make the brackets I used 2x2 square tubes with a plate & nut welded on top to bolt the seat to. I used 4" flat pieces welded to the bottom of the tubing and drilled a hole on each side for the floor.

Reason: added picture
First is measure across the inside of the truck. Second measure the width of the seat. If the second number is smaller than the first you are in! If the second number is smaller through the seat up in the truck and prop it up so you get the feel for exactly what you need for height and if it is comfortable to you. Just make up mounting brackets and enjoy.

PS: not being a smart a$$ but that is basically all there is to it.

Reason: typing and thinking does not always work.
Doc, make sure the back is not to thick for the 50, I know your not as large as I am but I might want to borrow it someday and I want to be comfortable, ha ha.
Thanks guys. I hadn't really given it a lot of thought because it's gonna be a while, but this seat popped up and I thought I had better get up to speed on whether or not it would work. I really want one with shoulder belts considering I'll be hauling my kids some. But at least lap belts. I have a worn out 1990ish Ford Ranger seat. I had planned on just recovering it and installing belts in the floor. But I'm learning it's gonna probably cost me more to re-upholster that one than to buy one of these practically new seats with the belts already installed.
there is not a lot of room in my 52 cab for a real plush seat, the seat I put in was a 3rd seat from Freestar minivan. Here is a link to the picture of the seat. I can't remember how to post it. Too much shoveling the white stuff.
I have some Ranger seats I had redone in Clarksville TN a few years ago; which are colecting dust since I replaced them. If you were closer you could take a look at them
