I'm sure the conversation of old trucks in movies and TV has come up before. But now that I own one I'm looking for and seeing them more often. I was watching The Shawshank Redemption yesterday. The scene where Red, Morgan Freemen, gets dropped off in Buxton. He is riding in a (what appears to be) a 1949 F1. Very similar to my M47. The same color and 1 windshield wiper. I still find it amusing that the passenger wiper was an option. I dont have the wooden side rails but who knows, I like the look.
I find it humorus that two brake lights was an option as well!
I found myself doing the same. I will watch a flick and point every F-1 out to my wife. She sits there staring at me like I have two heads....like I am the one with the problem!

My sickness apprears to be worse as I always have to cite the year and make of any old vehicle in a film, my wife has gone into ignore mode for survival purposes!
I do the same thing!!! It drives her nuts. There will be one movie a month maybe that she picks out....so you know its some girly chick flick that always makes her cry. Well, right in the middle of the tear jerking moment, I shout out, "Well at least he is driving a '64 Falcon!"...or whatever the car/truck may be.
My wife has been pretty understanding (so far). She does give me the look and the ole eye roll when I stop and rewind movies to see what that old truck was....
I guess using the word "Rewind" does show my age a bit.
Have you guys ever noticed in James Bond's Gold Finger they were riding to Fort Knox in the back of a Ford when they got out it was a Chevy same color (OD Green) I think they were 57-59.

Reason: spelling
In Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest, after Cary Grant is 'shot' at Mt. Rushmore, he's placed in the back of a US Nat'l Park Service 1955 Chevy panel wagon with a one piece tailgate.
In the next scene, Grant climbs out of the back of the Chevy which now has a two piece tailgate. The year is the same as is the color, the 2nd car is a station wagon.
The first scene was shot at Mt. Rushmore, the second scene was obviously shot on a Hollywood sound stage.
When the 1964 Lincoln was crushed in Goldfinger, it's obvious the engine/trans was removed. When the hunk of metal was loaded into Oddjob's 1964 Falcon Ranchero, the truck sagged at the rear.
Goin' down the road in the next scene, the Falcon is now at normal ride height.

Ain't the internet wonderful sometimes. Go to about the 2:00 mark and you'll see it. Seems like it tracks sideways a tad. That truck is in about the same condition as my 49. They couldn't have picked a better one for this shot.
I like the wood side rails too... make the cab bot seem so tall.
I've started picking out old trucks in ads and movies as well, but go thte biggest kick out of my girldfriend the other day... some ad came on selling a miniature of a 48 F-1 for $10 or something and as a bonus they'll add in this 1956 F-100. My girl yells to me cause I was in the kitchen and says "look, your truck is on TV"... I run in smiling cause she FINALLY was the one to point out an old truck... of course I was hurt that she didn't know I have a 53...
...and before anyone makes a joke about me being in the kitchen and her watching TV... I was getting a beer...
I think I'm going to rent American Graffiti. There's bound to be some cool old trucks in there. Ive seen the move a few times but never look for trucks.

Yup, there is some cool trucks in there, gotta watch carefully but there is. And in the movie clip up above look how much play there is at the steering wheel...watch the hands.
There's an auto insurance commercial out right now that at one point pans from left to right to show a pile of toy cars and parts on the floor that some kid has destroyed and right in the middle there's a red door off a '56 F-100. It's a sickness I guess...
