am prepping a junkyard 6.9 to put in my truck. compression is great with one cylinder at 400psi and all others at 440 - 460....
when removing the wire harness to the glowplug temp sensor (the vertical one on back of motor) the top crumbled apart. after a day of soaking in pb blaster the aluminum? housing split when turning with a wrench.
have i already dropped debris into the coolant passage? who else has had this problem? what are my prospects for getting this tube out clean? don't want to have to tear this otherwise good engine down further.
i have a manual pushbutton glowplug system so want to just cap this hole. can i just leave it and not have a leak?
Bottom of the 6.9 style GP controller is a completely sealed metal bottom that includes the threads, so unless the entire threaded portion crumbled apart to let the bottom fall in, then you're still A-OK as far as junk in the coolant passages.
