5R110W Shift Problem

I have an 08 f350 with a 5R110W w/ trans case. I came home the other night it was fine parked it. Next morn went in reverse then shifted into drive and the trans seemed like it was slipping but would still move then stuck after applying more throttle as the torque converter built up momentum then the wrench came on. Undid bat. cables and drained juice from system to reset the comp possibly, no difference. I then parked it and tried driving it again15 mins later and the problem stopped and it was fine for about 5 mins and at a stop sign it did it again. Same issue. I drove it a few more times and it is still not working correctly. Then trans now will not shift past 2nd or 3rd gear. I was told that it could be one of the solenoids sticking. Could the throw of the code tell what solenoid or what exactly is wrong? I am first taking it to a trans. shop that I've had do work before but I am sceptial if they have the proper diagnostic computer as ford does to tell them exactly what code was thrown. Any ideas and all is appreciated. Truck is completly stock. Thanks

The code will tell what the computer is seeing that is wrong. That will lead to the problem, but the code rarely says, "this part is bad, change it." It is the best place to start, and sometimes it's almost impossible to diagnose without the codes.
