Angry HELP! PLEASE

I have a 2003 F-250, 7.3L Diesel, 142,000 miles with a EDGE chip. Usually runs great BUT ever so often (3 times last year again yesterday 21 Jan 2011) the truck won't start. Battery strong, engine spins freely but never catches, usually starts first time you engage the starter, cold or hot weather. Sometimes if you wait a day or so the truck starts right up, but in October it would not start so I called a wrecker and towed it to the shop, where it started right up. The trouble code indicated a faulty injector pump, but the Ford technician said it was not the pump because when they fail they do not return to operation. The truck gets good fuel milage, does not burn oil no fuel or oil leaks, has been serviced regularly and in all other ways has been super dependable, this is the only issue I have ever had. Does not seem to be any ryme or reason, sometimes it happens when the truck is cold sometimes when it is warm.

I would check the all the electrical contacts from the battery to the starter. If nothing shows up then I would check the starter it self.

Check the ICP connector. This sensor is responcable for telling the computer that there is enough oil pressure in the injection system, if going bad it won't allow oil pressure to build in the system. It is on the drivers sidde head at the front right behind the alternator.Check and see if oil is inside of it. First and foremost has the cam sensor been updated with the newest one, that is the first place to start.

Welcome to FTE. A couple of red flags here. Our trucks do not have injector pumps. Our injectors run off of high pressure oil that is fed from the HPOP ( high pressure oil pump)

I feel that the guys here are right and it is an electrical issue of some kind. What kind of chip are you running?

I had the same problem. it ended up being one of the o-rings on the high pressure oil. It cracked and lost pressure. If your truck does not reach the pressure indicated for the high pressure oil system it will not start. but once your truck cools down and the oil thickens back up it will start. that is because you can build the pressure.
