can anyone tell me how to get the fan shroud off this truck? ive searched and cannot find anything. i have the turbo and pedistal removed, just cannot get the intake completely disconnected. for those of you just tuning in, iam replacing the STC fitting and the egt cooler is in the way and appears the intake has to be removed to get at the HPOP cover. thanks
I believe removing the intake is the best way to go for the STC fitting - I didn't think that you HAD to though.. I can post some help (I hope). Just give me a few minutes.
Actually - can you PM me your email address? I have a pdf that might help you.
Remove the shroud:
The fan shroud is very simple to remove on these trucks. Remove all the "Christmas tree" plastic pushpins that secure the upper sight shield to expose the main battery positive cable crossover. Disconnect all those push clip connections to the upper rad support. Remove all four 8mm bolts that secure the upper rad support brackets. Disconnect the upper rad hose from the rad, as well as the small hose from the coolant degas bottle. Remove the two 8mm bolts that secure the shroud to the rad. Push the rad toward the front of the truck and pry the shroud upward CAREFULLY to remove.
is this the troublesome STC? it looks differnt from the one i got from ford. but, the one i got is supposed to be an upgrade, right? also, now that i have it out, hoe can i tell that is is definitly leaking? i dont want to spend my weekend putting this thing back together just to have the same problem.
Thanks for all your help so far!!
BTW... that is the same kit i got, with the nylon alignment bolts. i already had it done by the time i could get back to the computer... but good pics none the less
Another question, the blue hose that connects the egr cooler, can it be put back with regular hose clamps? I am about to put the Turbo back on and don't want leaks.
