It's not casting sand. It's called "silicate dropout", and is what happens to SCA-based coolant (especially green). I saw none of that in my cooling system after running gold since being built, which is a hybrid-OAT coolant. It's partially SCA, partially ELC. But here's what dropout looks like -- if this is what you saw, it's time to switch to ELC!!

If the dealer is replacing the waterpump and doing a coolant flush. Will the put the green coolant back in or will they change it to gold?

My original pump lasted about 83k miles, then I replaced it with NEW and did the 203* TStat, billet housing, and ELC (Red) coolant, and buy, the first time I changed the filter it had ALOT of crap in it!!

Yup, big thanks to Guzzles' site. Did my own diy, material from fleetfilter. Havnt changed the filter yet, since its been installed for about 7k miles, but got on my workbench, 25gal of distilled and 4gal of red elc, along with 3 non sca filters, for miles to come.
