the t-18 and np435 both fit the same bellhousing and mounts so if you already have a stick your set...make sure the tranns you get has the right output shaft... if it had a 203 or 205 yor set, especially if205 because the adapter will already be in it...
You don't have to change your tailsection on your 2wd np435. Just make a bracket to bolt to the tailsection with a 90 degree kick and welded on nut to mount t case linkage just like the second post of pics in this thread.
We've been talking about this on pirate and that tranny is actually a 2wd f350 np435 and has a bigger 32 spline output vs 28 and comes stock with a 1350 yoke. It's a good upgrade if you can find one as the spline count is the same as a 205 tcase so 1 ton yokes are easy to upgrade. My 28 spline tranny I had to make a custom 1350 yoke out of a 1350 9" yoke lathed,old 28 splines from original yoke pressed in, then pre/post heat nickel rod welded.. Works great but if I ever find that f35o tranny ill snap it up...
i don't know where your at but the supercab i've got is getting a dt444e and zf5 sd... it currently has a rebuilt np435/205 setup in it with 800 miles on it...just a thought, would help pay for some of my conversion costs..
The tail section on his np435 has the special mount for the dana21. ive been down this road when i first built my rig. its easier to find a diffrent tranny with the standerd 205 mount.
Now that I have a 205 I dont know what trans I want to go with. Do I stick with the 435 or get a t18? The t18 has overdrive right? Thanks for all the info. If it was up to you what would you go with. It will be a driver maybe a truck pull or two just for fun.
