Hey guys.
I have an 03 EB expedition with the 5.4
I trimmed up my air box and added a k&n, and also used a hypertech max energy tuner.
The gains aren't what I've hoped for and are actually barely noticeable.
Did I pick the right tuner?
Is there a better was to go for efficiency and power?
Thanks
I think they are all about the same. Hypertech is a reputable name. I have the Diablosport Pretator tuner. It isn't the kind of mod that will set you back in your seat. If you drive your truck a while then take the tune off, you will notice a difference. Do you have yours tuned to the high octane tune?
No, low octane.
I had a Diablo on my ram and i loved it. That was a diesel though.
I was just wondering if people had better luck with one or the other.
You won't notice any power on a NA gasoline car with the low octane setting. The tuner basically advances your timing to give you more hp, tq and mpg. You need to run the high octane tune to notice a power difference. Forced induction is where the tuners really shine. Hypertechs are good tuners.
I have the Hypertech Max energy, and I like it a lot. I have it set for 87 octane, and I knew the gains wouldn't be crazy, but overall I think it helped. I would recommend the Hypertech to anyone else that wants a good overall tuner.
