3.5 eb mods

I am going to be getting downpipes for my ecoboost. Non catted probably. What is the best brand out there, bang for buck? I have read that I will need a tune afterwards to get rid of CEL. When you guys say "tune", do you mean take it to a tuner and put it on a dyne for a custom tune or buy a handheld tuner and enter the parameters? If a handheld tuner will suffice, which brands would be best to build power and increase efficiency ( safely)?
thanks

I've been reading up and a lot of good things said about Livernois Tuning. You might want to check them out.

The EcoBoost has a bunch of hoops to go through if you are going to be tuning it yourself (which is highly satisfying), but since there is not a lot of support on most forums, you can find yourself working harder than you would like. I just finished up working out the bugs in my SHO, and working out the throttlebody set-up to get the throttle to stop reducing the boost was a bit of work. The fueling control side is very easy though! I use HPtuners, which works pretty well with the EcoBoost.

I would just buy a tuner if you are a EFI newbie. Livernois is certainly a reputable source as are a handful of others. A few will continue to do some datalogging and fine-tuning which can really liven things up if you are on the right fuel!

Probably be worth buying a canned tune.

When I had my 2012 ecoboost I had off road down pipes dumping into a 4 inch straight pipe. Without a tune you will keep getting o2 sensor codes. I had tunes through 5 star tuning who did a awesome job working with me and with all the mods I had installed. I tried MPT tunes and they keep giving me boost creep and over-boosting the truck throwing in in limp mode. I would buy a Livewire ts tuner and go with 5 star. Also, if you wanna turn some heads driving through town put a straight pipe after the down pipe and turn in toward the ground before the axle to get them turbos bouncing off the road haha. Sounds pretty sick especially with turbosmart bovs. Check out my youtube video- 2012 f150 ecoboost true straight pipe from turbos back. The video was before bovs and exhaust turn down

You wouldn't like me very much if I was behind Mr. Stinky with no cats. Have some class and get catted downpipes.
I'm using a MPT93 PRX tune on my 3.5. They require you to use the N Gauge tuner for '17 up. It's also calibrated for my Borla exhaust.
I've never had it on a dyno, just went with their advertised dyno results. Not sure just what kind of power I'm putting on the ground, but it made an already good running engine, run even better.
CALL them, they answer the phone, and are very easy guys to deal with.
