For what its worth, my 99 dodge ram had the intake run into the inner fender and I never had any problems, no matter where the intake is run it has the possibility to fill up with snow just by the nature of what it is doing.

An "almost brother-in-law" of mine ran his 2007 Dodge 1500 4x4 into a 6 inch puddle at around 25-30MPH. It sucked up water, and broke a rod.

Sisters 05 dodge got packed full of snow in the intake all the way to the filter.
Took her boyfriend 1.5 days to dry it out.
Nothing happened to the engine luckly.
I did get water/ice into my 97 350 intake and bent a rod then broke 4 months later.
