hey can you blame me, and lxcam, it is all in fun man!! hahaha.

So for day two. Things noticed, increased lowend bigtime. Moderate pickup at topend, like in accellerating from 45mph-55mph. Good gains all around the powerband. I am convinced now that the pvc rubber installed will never have any problems. I can say that it will outlast anything else that is rubber. The neck of the intake manifold never topped 113 today during normal driving so if you want to use the pvc rubber boot idea it will be a permanent idea, not a shortlived dying rubber idea. In no way shape or form is it less supple, burnt, or anything. Nothing even noticeable to the rubber. As for the location, i am sure that i want it forward and enclosed. I have a quantity of clear plexiglass that i will mount around it and possibly paint or just put the AEM decal on it. As for anything else or lessons learned, dont spend 112 dollars to get a plenum shipped to you when for 23 dollars you can build a possibly more effecient model. Does it look pretty, i dont give a ****, it works. does my truck look pretty, i dont...well you get the idea.

Did he say V2.1???

Are you going to try and direct airflow to the box you plan to build around the filter? If my dryer vent ram air can last all summer including 2 long trips then I know that pvc will hold up! You know I just have to try this as soon as I can get a filter

yeah it wasnt supposed to say that, it was supposed to be V2.11 hahaha. i didnt realize that till just now lol. Yeah the neck of the intake manifold doesnt get hot at all in my rig. Guess to each his own. This crap works like a friggin champ and my dryflow aem will outlast and outperform any other option i had with the dork can. Yes that is what i am calling it now. So for now i might just start building these for fun and sending them off to anyone who wants one for a slight profit and shipping hahahah. might have to post a classified section post though lmao.

hmmm I just had a realization... i could easily fab up a box out Kydex or ABS at work... just built myself a really cool bed holster for the glock out of that stuff!

I seem to remember someone on here that moved his drivers side battery right next to his passenger one, thereby opening up all that space. That would be the perfect spot to have a filter box that draws in cold air from the spot were I had my ram air hooked up over the summer.

precisely my dear watson, i am planning to cut and epoxy the plexiglass then use mounting L's to secure it right where i need it. It doesnt have to be big since the air flow coming in will overpower the system at anything above 25mph. I am going to leave this on for a while to really test the durability but let me tell you, this thing wont melt any time soon. promise.

Are you thinking a full box with ram air into it or are you thinking three sides covered with top and front open?

only the front open so essentially a ram air combo. i will use insulation rubber tubing for the edges that make contact with solid surfaces. Should be interesting. hahah. hope lxcam doesnt mind the somewhat finished model lmfao!!

You guys will be happy to know, the Stroke has an air intake temp sensor.
With the intake mods I have done on it at this point, it is laying on the inner fender right now.

As long as I am moving 25 MPH or more, the under hood temps are the same as outside temps during the winter.

5 degrees here this morning, intake air temp was 5 degrees while I was on the interstate.

However, summer temps, outside plus 10 to 20 degrees even at speed.
10 degrees with AC off, 20 with it on

thanks dave for backing that one up. The ambient temps are not registerable on my temp gauge as it only registers 60-185. Stupid thing kills me. I am ditching it for a good digital replacment. The intake temp would be awesome, could that just be installed inline in my system? do you know of a setup like that for auto purposes?

If you make the box out of clear plexi, I'd leave it clear. Might not look as pretty as a painted one, but you'd be able to check if the filter is dirty or full of leaves anytime you glance under the hood.

I fully agree with you, function is a million times more useful to me than form. I'll admit my truck looks like ***, and needs a buttload of body work, but it gets me to work everyday, and carries a load or tows when I need it. Plus noone in their right mind would steal it ;-)

yeah i am thinking ill paint it but leave a space at the top so i can see in. probably going to hinge and latch the top so the filter can be easily accessed. Good thinking bro!

All this talk about fancy free-flowing intakes, I took a look under my hood today, and where in wreckingball's truck there is piping in mine there is a york with an oil separator hanging off its side - yup, screwed myself once again. You know, to heck with that, I'll just get an outboard filter setup from a long-nose class-8 truck! lol
