Good morning...are you all getting all the fires under control?
We've lost over 3.5 million acres this fire season. It's not a matter of getting all the fires under control as it is putting these fires down and waiting on the next ones. What we need is rain, and a bunch of it. Unfortunately the long term forecast doesn't look good.
The US drought map doesn't show you how bad things really are here, but it will give you an idea. US Drought Monitor
The grass here all died in early July and we had to start feeding hay about the time we should have been getting our second cut of hay. Trees are dropping their leaves or dying and it's still in the 90's outside. This is the first time my pond has ever dried up. It's not completely dry yet. I've still got a mud puddle that's about 30' x 50', but the fish are gone and the mud will dry up soon.
Things are so dry here it doesn't take much to set things off.
