Yep, kind of an annual thing my fishing buddy & I do. We're all jazzed to start the fishing season once we leave the place, and with this weather coming up this weekend, the bug to get out will be stronger than ever. Except the boat is in for a little transom repair right now. Prolly won't get it back for at least a couple weeks.
I'll just have to settle for some playoff football this Sunday.
A little of both, probably.
A couple of welds in 3 of the 5 transom brackets broke. This outboard engine is pretty large for the size of the boat, and after 10+ years of trailering the boat without a 'transom saver' the bouncing of the motor while motoring down Califorina's highways likely caused the the welds to fracture. It isn't/wasn't a serious problem at the moment, but was something that I couldn't keep putting off. It is the first time the boat has been in the shop for anything since I bought it new in 2000.
We'll be good to go by spring time.
They used to have that show at Pomona, and we went to most if not all of them. IIRC, the earliest ones were at Anaheim CC. Very well organized show, and a great place to meet outfitters and talk business. For some reason they pulled ot of So Cal. Looks like Vegas next year, and we might have to take a road trip for that.
Always wanted to go to the Reno SCE convention. Never came up with the gumption to go that far for a weekend.
I don't get it either. The place was always packed with people. Pomona doesn't allow gun shows any more, but ISE is not a gun show. I can remember Turners having a booth there, but they could have simply restricted gun sales.
It's amazing that some people are able to function at all.
In a time when everyone's worried about the legality of, quite literally, hurting someone's feelings...
I think we need to replace some of the overzealous "protect the idiots from themselves" mentality with the phrase
"You are an idiot. Please leave."
If someone is a big enough idiot that it causes them suffering... then the rest of us should not have to suffer on their behalf. If anything, idiots might be more strongly encouraged to dislodge their head from the dark place... and the world would instantly be a brighter and happier place... without the rest of us having to pretend for them.
