They definately looked factory. My truck had some front end damage years ago. I took it in to be repaired and when i picked it up i noticed the braces were missing. I asked the collision shop, they said one was in the truck but they threw the other one away because it was cracked.
I went to Ford but the parts guy had no luck finding a part number. He said it looked factory but he had never sold one before. Thats when i started looking at the bumpers of other trucks to see if it was common. Like i said the only other set i've seen was on a bronco and they were an identical match.
I was out in the shop last night looking at the truck. It came with a big winch bumper mounted up front when I got it but the P/O had kept the original front bumper he took off and gave that to me as well. It's sitting in the back of the truck right now and I noticed last night that it has the elusive bumper support brackets that some of you have been talking about on this thread. I can take a pic and some measurements if you would like.
There are some post on this thread about small steel bumper brackets that go out from the frame towards the ends of the bumper. Some said they had never seen them before.

skidoodave! Please post some pics and measurements. I be VERY interested in seeing them and maybe trying to fabricate a set... for me and maybe some FTE'ers if they are interested.
I'm going to start a new thread on the bumper support brackets. I will title it "Front bumper support bracket". I took some pics and messurements and will try to put the pics up in the new thread.
