Question 351 M

I just purchased a 79 f150 ext. cab with a 351m in it. The truck did not run when I bought it and I was told that it needed a new timing chain....I have heard that there is a possibility that occassionally when the timing chain goes the #1 piston bend the valve....is this true or the timing chain going out cause other problems?

pacochico13, I personally, have never seen the valves get into the pistons on these engines from just the timing chain jumping.

Have at it.

Superdave is right. These are not an interference type engine. If there are any bad valves, they were bad before the timing chain went.
