what is the warmest outside temperature that you would want glowplugs opperating? i would put a thermostat in line with the ground from the IDM. too easy to forget a switch. i work in the HVAC field so I have access to all kinds of temperature controls. seems like you really wouldnt need GPs in weather warmer than say 55 degrees? thats easy. you could use a fixed temp or adjustable temperature control. I prefer to just let the pcm do its thing.
Ken, please let us know how you install it, since you work in HVAC field it could be interesting.

most mechanical heating thermostats are a normally open switch that closes when it gets colder. so wiring them is no different than wiring in a toggle switch. anyone here should be able to handle it no problem. please excuse the typo (brain fart) earlier the ground to the gpr is controled by the pcm not the idm.
William, you didnt go to the meet up at the truck plant tour? that was today. so what would be the warmest temperature that you would disable the glowplugs??? I'm leaving mine stock but seems like others here are interested.
