Tranny dead ??? Need some input

Was it preventing the transmission from shifting; or defueling the engine to prevent shifting?
Take the tranny filter out; if theres anything other than a little smudge from the bands, get concerned, if not, I'd believe it was an electrical / sensor issue.
PS i have been tarred and feathered multiple times for being wrong.

After they worked on it, it shifts fine, but throws the code so i don't believe it could have been that. They replaced the solenoids and pack along with new oil and filter. Total bill was $600. i guess it was not too bad, as long as it is all good to go.

Went to pick up the truck. They pointed out the wire that was broken- it was in the steering column. took it for a spin, and what a difference a nice shifting transmission makes! At any rate, got ready to leave and I noticed a puddle of ATF under the truck. Looked like something happened to the gasket, so the truck stayed there and money in my pocket. Hopefully it will be done tomorrow. The price keeps looking better with all the work they have done.

it does seems a little weird, but when the truck was in drive, it would not shift up at all. Once they worked on it, it would shift just fine but had the P0713 code.
I have known the owner of the place for over 15 years. He watches over his guys as best as he can, but you know how that goes.
Here is the list of items:
1. gasket
2. clutch pack
3. front band
4. pump bushing
5. filter
6. 12 quarts oil
