Talking Gauges

2006 f-250 CC Lariat 6.0 FX4 125,000mi Looking for some digital gauges. Looked into the scangauge and wasn't too impressed. I guess I am looking for something digital that comes with a tuner seperate. dont have the funds for a tuner right now but would like to get the gauges. I plan to get the tuner later though. Any recommendations?

If you don't have the bucks for a digital gauge.. do you have the bucks / financial reserves to pay for the damage a tuner may do to your ride?

Suit yourself.... it is a free country!

Gearloose I think you misunderstood the question, the OP said gauges first & tuner later.
So Firebug get the gauges & pass on the tuner

Scangauge with x-gauge can monitor virtually everything minus egt...much better than cheesy A-pillar gauges. Agreed...skip the tuner unless u want a money pit of a truck. Best of luck.

Thanks to all. Would I have to get a separate gauge for the egt if I got the scangauge?

You would also need a seperate guage for Fuel PSI as that also isn't supported by our truck's computers.

You will not find individual gauges or any other multi-digital gauges any cheaper than the $159.00 ScanGauge. There are some digitals that also have egt or fuel press. capabilities but you have to install probes and those gauges are 2 to 3 times more expensive. If your on that tight of a budget I recommend gauges but you definitely can't afford to play. ie; tuners etc.

Let us know how much extra $$ it costs to get the extra sensors
added and connected and working.
I couldn't figure out there setup, what SW and options
were needed to make it all work. So, I decided to go a different
route. Their product line is too complicated IMO, there are
so many variations on the same thing edge, insight, insight cs or cts
that I couldn't be sure what I was getting myself into.

the DashDaq also looked interesting, but I think it can be a hobby
all to itself.

Ok it will be a while, I am purchasing everything as I go along. I purchased the Edge Insight CTS, updated the software off/with my computer, plugged it in, added my VIN, selected what I wanted to monitor, and its working. My main thing was monitoring EOT and ECT right away because it is a recently purchased vehicle. Really after I researched gauges I think with the add ons the CTS is still way cheaper than traditional quality gauges!!!!! My plan is to purchase a 5th wheel, and felt the couple of extras the Edge offered was worth the money, plus very easy to move to different vehicles, clearly an individual decision. The fuel pressure option will be available soon from Edge. I will also be adding a backup camera. The EGT probe is available now for about 180. Plus I get scan tool and code clearing capabilities!
