How come the isspro egt has a amplifier for the wiring. I just purchased one and was just wondering now come no other companys have this, and why does it look so complicated to hook up. I still have to wait for the shop where i purchased the gauge to get the probe, but i have now been looking at the Autometer Digital gauge so i can match it with the Dp tuner selector. any thoughts on those
My Isspro pyro didn't have an amplifier. Did you get the older EV(1) model? Can you return it? If so you might want to check out Riffraff's website. He is a site sponsor.
Are you talking about the Performax Series? If so, they have an electronic processor that is a one time purchase. Then it will control a bunch of gauges (16 I think...). That is a cool system ( if that is what you ordered).
Sounds like you have the EV 1, like mine. The EV 2 does not have the box. I tucked the boxes up on the firewall. Keep them apart a little. Originally I was after EV 2s but I got such a deal on the set and A pillars I could not resist. An additional step during install, thats all. They look and perform great.
Hmm...well you stumped me. I didn't think they came with amplifier boxes but I could be wrong. I bought mine about 4 or 5 months ago I think...Here is a link to the Riffraff site that says no amplifiers needed. Riffraff Diesel: Isspro EV2
As far as I know, ISSPRO had the EV (early style) gauges of which I have the Trans Temp and Boost. Back then the trans temp gauge had an amplifier box but of course the boost did not. I later purchased another trans temp, fuel pressure and pyro gauge in the EV2 style. At that time I got the black face, red pointer and black bezel so it would match my factory dash. None of the EV2 styles required any sort of amplifier box.
Then there is the Performax Series, which I perceived as being top of the ISSPRO line. That system has an electronic signal processor box that connects to your factory sensors (or something like that) and basically reads all sorts of functions and sends the entire signal to your cab via a bus line (of sorts). Then you can plug whatever gauge you want into that bus line and it will pull the respective information for that particular gauge and display the reading. The benefit is that you can swap out gauges as you feel necessary and won't have to mess with the wiring. You can also add gauges without having to add a bunch of wiring.
If your pyro gauge has an amplifier box, then I am not aware of that model. Maybe someone will come along who knows more about the ISSPRO line and help you out.
BTW, in case you are interested....I have Autometer Phantom gauges in my other truck and they appear to be a little more stylish during the day but sure are hard to read at night. In contrast, the ISSPRO EV2 and Performax gauges look more correct (IMO) and they are VERY nice at night. They have a nice soft green LED look at night and I really enjoy having them in my cab. Plus the pyro has the orange and red area that really helps identify when things are getting hot.
