post apocalyptic IDI

I just watched "Book of Eli" and got to thinking about what to do it the world ended ( its storming outside give me a break). And i started thinking how you'd want a vehicle with good mpgs, because fuel would be hard to come by.
Then i started thinking well diesels can run on a bunch of fuels. So basically to feed my mind do any of you know to how extreme of fuels diesels can run on. i.e. derived from animal fat/ plant oils all sorts of stuff
i figure a multi fuel military vehicle would be better then my IDI but meh

my biggest question is could you run off of something from animal fat because one that would be helpful and can you think of a more manly/Badass fuel hahaha

They will run just fine on animal fat based biofuel. Actually it's a little higher cetane than plant based biofuel. Problem is it also cloud's, or begins to solidify at a higher temperature too making it more difficult to deal with in cooler weather.

You can run a lot of fuels in these engines!! Consider how much good mineral oil there is in all the above ground electrical transformers!! The big boys hold over 2,000 gallons and they are super easy to find in a total absence of diesel fuel I would start there!!

those are just the babies!! The huge green cabinets you find by light industrial buildings are good and even better is the power distribution yards.

One other benefit of these old trucks like ours is the fact that, in the event of terrorists dropping an electromagnetic bomb, our trucks will still run. EMP bombs can be built by them for less than 400 bucks too........
