85 F350 with an IDI/4 speed standard with a nice speedo cable and you're SET!
Starting...let the clutch out to pop start it.
Shutting down...let the clutch out to stall it.

Actually if you were happy with the stall the engine to turn it off, all you would have to do is remove the shut down spring and arm on the fuel solenoid.

Course the bad thing, if it was in gear and the parking brake did not hold, the engine would be running after it made a few revolutions.

That actually happened to a friend of mine back home. He drove a black FX3 2.5 diesel taxi in the days before FSS's. You simply pulled a strangler cord to cut the fuel supply. Once you release that cord the supply is open again. he left it in gear on a hill with the parking brake lightly applied. It rolled and started up and drove itself into a neighbors garden and into their house.

Preferably right into the epicenter where man and truck will be perfectly melded together

the bigger joke being any country that thinks a protracted nuclear war is either winnable or survivable in the long term. Think I'll just hide in the bucket of my versalift on the 93.

I just got a idea , if you knew a nuke was going to hit and you were in its radius you could put all the eletrical parts needed to start and run the truck in a microwave and they would be safe because a microwave uses radiation to cook and it is desighned not to let any out so i would thing it would not let any elctromagnetic pulses in, am i right ?

Microwave ovens use electromagnetic waves. They bombard the food and the resulting molecular friction produces heat. The food effectively cooks itself. Your microwave oven is an enclosed EMP device.

All you need to do is pinch the rubber return line coming out of the top of the IP, the intrernal pressure will shut the pump down. Kind of like a manual FSS.

Good call.
If your facing downhill, set the brake, and set the transmission in reverse.
If your facing uphill, set the brake, and set the transmission in a forward gear.
I remember last summer I was parked on an uphill, set the parking brake, and left it in 2nd gear...well I came back to the truck about 30 minutes later and the truck was slowly rolling backward down the driveway...one stinking engine revolution at a time.
Yep, the 6.9 didn't like turning over backwards and when it fired up it sounded kinda funny...but it worked it's way out on the drive home.
That was when I realized the wheel cylinders were leaking on my Dana 70 because my shoes must be covered in brake fluid...never opened it up to see.
I didn't wanna mess with those brakes, pulling the shafts and bearings, so I rebuilt the brakes on my spare Ford 10.25 and swapped that in...big difference with working rear brakes!
Plus, you don't have to pull that crap to service the brakes on the Ford 10.25!!
