F150's are fun toys to have and do great offroad since they are light ive had 2 one i still have and it has trans problems due to pulling to much weight and one was destroyed in an arson fire.... the one that got burned to the ground was my favorite... 351 w ext cab long bed 4x4 auto.... was a pretty good ol truck we took through some mud creeks jumped through our fields ect was just great but when it comes to work id just assume use my 250 and not wear out my 150 doing the heavy work

Plowing, the F150, CJ or Scout have their place.
We used to have a guy with an old Scout, great for sidewalks and tight places.

When you get out in the big parking lots, they just don't have enough weight to make a decent plow truck.

As for the frame and a winch, should not be a problem.
However if you run with the winch mounted, the extra weight will be a bit of extra wear on the ball joints and tierods, just like a plow is.

I can't see 900 pounds for a dressed IDI engine.
I know my hoist won't move mine on the 1000 pound hoist position.
It struggles on the 1500 pound hoist placement.
So for safeties sake I use a lift point half way between 1500 and 2000 pounds for a complete engine with oil.

I do have the plow on my Bronco this winter. I have used at home once (make room for all the holiday company lol) and twice at work. Work is a paying gig and the truck has done great. Since I sit so high I had to do some mods to the plow tho. It wouldn't stay flat on the ground when I pivoted side to side. With this heavy 6.9 sitting on he front axle this truck pushes awesome in 4x4. And the short wheel base is great for moving around in our lot. They will leave all the company trucks and vans parked where ever they please lol. Oh ya I did get a set of air bags for the front end and fabbed up a set of mounts for them. It really helped the truck ride better with the plow on.

Post #5 for weight, it seems low to me also. But if it came out of a Ford book...?

As for the Jeeps and plowing, oh yeah, no way they'll work for you Dave!
They'll maneuver on a dime for small areas like your guy with the scout, but don't weigh enough for tracton to move much snow.

Nice to hear you've got success kenbopuck!
Maybe I ought to get a Bronco chassis and transplant my '65 cab onto that for a wicked short wheelbase rig........

Hey go for it! I firmly believe in the idea "if you want it build it". Just do your homework and make it safe and reliable.
