Are the frames the same on 87' thru 96' trucks? As far as F150 short wheelbase 4WD, frames and F250 short wheelbase frames, not referring to F250 HD or F350.
If so are the 87' - 96" F150 & F250 short SWB frames the same?
Reason I ask is I have a 92' F150 SWB that will be slowly be getting a 9" rear end, SAS, flatbed build and will be stripping down to frame, sand blasting & painting it etc...
If the frames are the same, I'll pick u a frame and build it up then when finished, swap cab onto it. My cab is in excellent condition. This way will have use of current truck till ready to swap cab.
Sometime in the obs (92-96) trucks they went with the crimple in the front end of the frame for a crash zone (my 92 F150 has it) where as the bricknose (87-91) don't have it (my 88 and brothers 91 f150 don't have it).

Ok I remember reading about the crumple zone, my 92' has it.
It wouldn't make a difference as far as using 92' can & front end parts on a 87'-91 would it?
Ok so it's better if I get a 92-97 frame to keep things as uncomplicated as possible.
92-97 is probably more readily available so not really an issue, but good to know what to use.
as Brad said, if you plan on using 250 front suspension you need a 150 frame. 150 uses coil springs, and 250 uses leaf springs on the 4X4.
250 2 wheel drive had coil springs, but there was never a 250 short wheel base made.
